UFC Undisputed 2010 is a remarkably complete simulation of the popular mixed martial art tournament.  Everything is in there from the various styles, Chuck Liddell, many of the fighters, the usual set of sponsors, Chuck Liddell, the referees, the arenas and even Joe Rogan.  The graphics are up to a decent standard, not quite on the Fight Night level yet though, and sound is a mixture of authentic commentary and tedious generic rock and metal.

UFC Undisputed 2010

I break you. Like I break your friend.

The controls are a bit of a nightmare to get used to with all manner of analogue movements to learn and buttons to press.  It does get easier though and eventually you’ll be taking people down from the clinch and trying kimuras and triangles on them.  The reversal system seems entirely hit and miss though so your best bet is to concentrate on striking.

It’s a very complete and competent simulation of the sport but an initially baffling career mode, an online community full of cunts, menus that make you want to scream and a lack of variation will grate a little but once you get into the swing of things, the career mode offers addiction and entertainment – at least until you complete it.  Also, it has Chuck Liddell in it (no George Sotiropolous though, irritatingly).

Pre-owned buyers beware:  THQ charge extra for online play now.  Hngggh.
