Kitten by Krome, the mediocre developer behind the risible Xbox Live Game Room, is a scrolling combat platformer based on some bollocks anime that we’ve got no awareness of or interest in.That said, the old-school swords and platforms 2D gameplay does evoke memories of Capcom’s Strider with Kit, the game’s sole protagonist, proving just as nimble as Hiryu – if a lot more annoying.  The gameplay focuses more on leaping and fighting than it does puzzle-solving and maze-navigating – this is a good thing – but it never quite gets your pulse racing.

Hand in hand is the only way to land.

Unfortunately the awful characterisations, overly-easy gameplay and occasionally scruffy-looking cell-shaded graphics conspire to make this feel pretty ordinary.  But, for £6.80, this isn’t quite as bad value as the majority of tat we’ve had on Live recently (although be warned, it is episodic) and it may prove popular with young ‘uns for the plot and older gamers for the retro-flavoured gameplay.

5/10
